My DSL is (temporarily) dead

*sigh* I had a nice long battle with the customer service rep on the phone last night, after my Verizon DSL decided to stop working. Well, no it was giving me lightning connection speeds of 32kbps apparently (for DSL!!). That's worse than when I was on dial-up. After calling Verizon who promised to send out a technician in a few days (a few days?!?), I lost even the 32kbps. T_T

So just a note to friends - sorry, if I'm sporadic in my email and posting responses the next few days.

Konbanwa, chanpon-san. ^^ (It's almost 1:00a.m. here.) I've just read your mail, and I'm very sorry to hear about your DSL net connection. XD My DSL provider decided that they control the DL/UL speed when people use some file exchanging softwares like WinMX. So when I use one of those, my DL speed becomes only 0-10Kbps. (T_T) I don't know why UL speed seems to have no problem because it's about 50-100Kbps. (?_?)

Please do not apologize about the favor I asked you. I really appreciate that you've tried. I wonder if it's the reason why your net connection almost stopped working. XDDD I hope your DSL will return to normal conditions in no time.

Oh, by the way, PM can be another option to exchange our messages. :-) I also sometimes check email/LJ during working hours. :P That's the way life goes. (Doesn't it sound funny to use the last sentence here? XD)

Well, I'm still going to try to finish the download, since I've already started. Maybe I'll get lucky. The DSL has been acting weird this week anyway. Sometimes it's very slow, but then it would be fine after an hour. I've never had it not connect at all though. The seed looked like it had a lot of downloaders, so I'm hoping it'll be up for a while. I'm planning to complain some more to the customer service reps anyway. XD Maybe I will annoy them enough to fix my line sooner.

*meep* I use Verizon DSL too, but I've never had much problems with them o_o *touches wood* Well, they do cap the ul to 80-90k/s, but that's fine for my purposes XD Hope you get your connection fixed soon~

You know, I have been a big fan of Verizon since I got DSL through them because they've been trouble-free and consistent. I'd heard horror stories (as with all services), but this time it really takes the cake. When I called back, not only did they NOT tell me that they are not sending out a technician, they insisted that I'm too far for the 1.5Mbps speed. I'm within their own distance parameters, and it's been confirmed by their customer service reps several times. I had it for a good 6+ months and it worked fine. Now they're insisting the drop in speed is because I'm too far out. But even at that, can't they provision me for the lower speed and end of story? Nope...I'm still getting download speeds of 1-2kbps. -_- It just bugs me that they can't admit they have a capacity issue on that node of the network, and rather than fixing it, they're going to just lower the speed of anyone who complains.

Very, very painful. I'm paying full price for their service too, not one of their cheap new low price, annual contract deals. So I've decided to go the cable broadband route, and they're coming Thursday. Maybe the upgrade in DL/UL will be good. ^^

Ahh...too much ranting, sorry. Thanks for your well wishes. Hopefully I'll be able to share more with better speeds too.
